Rotisseries for Large Pieces
of Meat
Rotisseries are kitchen or cooking
appliances that are used to cook large pieces of meat. A
rotisserie is
made with a meat skewer that is fitted into a holder on
either side of the heat source. The rotisserie will have
stays to hold the meat in place as the rotisseries
rotate the meat over the heat. This rotation is done at
a slow pace allowing the meat to heat evenly on all
sides without burning. The outside does not remain in
one spot long enough to burn while the inside is cooking
slowly to juicy perfection. The flavor is sealed in as
the exterior roasts and the juices stay in through the
cooking process on a rotisserie.
A rotisserie is a good way to cook chicken and many
people like to baste it with bbq sauce while it turns.
The sauce and the skin become crispy and tasty while the
meat cooks without becoming dry. You will see chicken
rotisseries in many grocery stores where whole chickens
are cooked whole and then sold to the public. They are
large with many skewers all carrying several chickens so
twenty or more are cooking at one time. Customers like
to buy the freshly cooked hot chicken and take it home
for a fast dinner. They only need a salad and bread and
the meal is perfect on a warm summer day.
Some ovens can be purchased with a rotisserie attachment
and you can use your oven like other
rotisseries. The
skewer fits into the sides of the oven where there is a
mechanism that causes it to rotate your meal. Many
barbeques also have one that will come as part of the
unit when it is purchased or can be bought as an option
at a later date.
