Mouth Watering Root Beer Ribs

 

Marinade

 

4 Racks baby back ribs (each 1 ½ lb) Side Ribs work too
6 tbsp The Best BBQ Rub (recipe follows)
2 onions sliced
4 cloves garlic smashed (or mince garlic from jar)
1 can root beer
1 tbsp vanilla

 

The Best BBQ Rub - Makes about 2 ½ cups

½ cup paprika
¼ cup chili powder
3 tbsp salt
2 tbsp ground coriander
2 tbsp garlic powder
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp curry powder
2 tbsp hot mustard powder
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tbsp dried thyme
1 tbsp ground cumin
1 tbsp cayenne pepper

Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container in a cool dry place.

 

  1. Marinate ribs in the above marinade for several hours in the refrigerator.

  2. Place ribs on preheated bbq grill, grilling until almost done.

  3. Brush bbq sauce (below) over ribs for last 10-15 minutes cooking time.

 

BBQ Sauce

1 cup ketchup
½ cup brown sugar
½ tin root beer
2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
Salt to taste (1 tsp)
